APPLE CRISP 
4 c. sliced pared tart apples (about 4 med. MacIntosh)
2/3 to 3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. oats
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 c. butter, softened

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease square pan, 8 x 8 x 2 inches. Place apple slices in pan. Mix remaining ingredients thoroughly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake 30 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Serve cold or warm (can be topped with whipped cream or ice cream).
