ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
2 sticks butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 lb. orange candy slices, cut into sm. pieces
1 lb. chopped dates
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. pecans

Mix 1 cup flour with the chopped dates, candy and pecans. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Mix soda into remaining 3 cups flour; add alternately to sugar mixture with buttermilk. Bake 2 1/2 hours at 250 degrees in greased and floured tube pan.

ORANGE SLICE CAKE TOPPING:

1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. orange juice

Mix. Pour over cake while hot. Cool cake completely before removing from pan.
