1 lb. ground beef 1/2 lb. sausage 2 tbsp. sugar 1/2 c. chopped onion Sm. amount of garlic 1 tbsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 4 c. tomatoes, undrained 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste 12 curly lasagne noodles 1 tbsp. salt 1 (15 oz.) cottage cheese 1 egg 1/2 tsp. salt 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, grated 1 c. Parmesan cheese Brown beef and sausage with onion and garlic; drain grease. Add sugar, salt, pepper and mix well. Add tomatoes, tomato paste and 1/2 cup water; mash tomatoes. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer covered 1 1/2 hours. Bring water to a boil with 1 tablespoon salt. Add noodles; cook 10 minutes. Drain and rinse in cold water; dry noodles on towels. Preheat oven at 375 degrees. Mix cottage cheese, egg and salt; mix well. In bottom of 9x13x2 inch baking pan, spoon half of sauce into pan. Layer 6 noodles, overlapping. Spread half of cottage cheese, mix over noodles and sprinkle with half of Parmesan. Top with half of Mozzarella. Repeat same layering again. Cover with foil and bake 25 minutes. Uncover and bake 25 minutes longer. |
