1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. chopped, pared apples
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Cream butter, sugar and egg. Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mix. Stir in apples and nuts. Turn into an ungreased 9 x 9 inch baking pan and bake 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve warm with ice cream.

APPLE FOAM:

2 c. cold applesauce
1 egg white, stiffly beaten
1/2 c. whipped cream
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg.
