CARAMEL-NUT POUND CAKE 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1 pkg. light brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
5 lg. eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3 c. cake flour
1 c. milk
1 c. black walnuts, chopped fine

Cream butter, shortening and brown sugar thoroughly. Gradually add white sugar. Continue creaming. Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each is added.

Sift baking powder, salt and flour together. Add alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla, nuts and blend well. Turn batter into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for approximately 1 1/2 hours or until done.
