1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs, beaten
2/3 c. buttermilk
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. candied cherries, cut in quarters
2 c. chopped dates
1 c. candied fruits and peel
More red and green cherries for tops of cookies

Mix and bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
