1 c. raisins
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. applesauce
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. nuts, ground

Soak raisins in hot water 20 minutes; drain. Blend sugar and shortening together, add applesauce and egg; mix well. Sift all dry ingredients together. Add nuts and raisins to applesauce mixture. Then add dry ingredients. Stir well. Drop by teaspoonsful on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
