RED VELVET CAKE 
1 3/4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 c. buttermilk (1 1/8 c. milk plus 1/8 c. vinegar)
2 eggs
2 oz. melted unsweetened chocolate
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. red food color
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening

Mix all ingredients. Beat 1/2 minute at medium speed and then 3 minutes at high speed. Bake 350 degrees 30 to 35 minutes in greased pan.
