RED VELVET CAKE 
2 oz. red food coloring
3 tbsp. Nestle's Quik
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/4 c. Wonder flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix together and set aside in small bowl, food coloring and Nestle's Quik. Take 1/2 cup shortening, sugar and cream together until fluffy. Add eggs, coloring paste. Beat all for 10 minutes on high. Add buttermilk, slowly add flour. Add salt, vanilla, mix. In small bowl put vinegar and soda, add this to above mixture with a spoon and stir. Put in greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

RED VELVET ICING:

1/2 c. butter
6 tbsp. Crisco
1 c. 10X sugar
3 tbsp. Wonder flour
1/2 c. milk (or less)
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter, Crisco and sugar. Add flour slowly, milk and vanilla. Beat for 12 minutes on high speed.
