CRAZY CAKE AND FROSTING | |
3 c. flour 1/3 c. cocoa 1 tsp. salt 2 c. sugar 2 tsp. baking soda 3/4 c. oil 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. vinegar 2 c. cold water Sift together in cake pan the flour, cocoa, salt, sugar and baking soda. Make 6 wells. Put into wells the oil, vanilla and vinegar. Pour over the cold water. Mix with a fork. Bake 40 minutes at 350°F in 9 x 13 pan. Filling: 1/2 cup milk 2 1/2 tbsp. flour 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt Gradually blend the milk into the flour. Cook to thick paste. Stir constantly. Cool. Cream the butter, sugar and salt. Add to above. Beat until fluffy. Add the vanilla and put on cake. Cover. Frosting: 2 tbsp. cocoa 1/4 c. butter 1/4 c. milk 1 c. sugar 2 tbsp. Karo syrup Bring to a boil and boil 1 minute. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Cool a little and put on top of filling. |
