SMETNA COFFEE CAKE 
1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream (Smetna)
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Cherry pie filling

Mix together butter and sugar; add eggs, sour cream, flour, baking powder, baking soda and vanilla. Mix well, pour half of batter in greased tube pan, add can of cherry pie filling remainder of batter.

Topping: 1 stick butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup nuts and 1 tsp. cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Instead of the cherry, your favorite filling will work. I also use a cinnamon, nuts and sugar combination for a delicious breakfast coffee cake.
