CRANBERRY BREAD
2 c. fresh cranberries
2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. milk
1 slightly beaten egg
1/4 c. melted butter

Cut cranberries in half and set aside. Measure flour, salt, baking powder and sugar into bowl; mix gently. Add cranberries and nuts to bowl; mix to coat well.

In another bowl, mix milk, egg and melted butter; add to dry ingredients. Stir only to moisten. Pour into greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done.

HINTS: Frozen cranberries may be used, but only if they are cut in half and added to dry ingredients while still frozen. The bread freezes well. This makes a colorful addition to the buffet table. The Cheese Log is a good spread for this bread.

A teaspoon of orange rind is a pleasant addition to this bread; just add when you add the cranberries. 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg or cinnamon may be added for a different taste; add this with the dry ingredients.
