BUTTERMILK COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
4 1/2 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients. Add alternately with buttermilk. Drop by teaspoons onto cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
