CHEESE STRAWS | |
2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. paprika 1/2 c. butter (softened) 1 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese (shredded) 1. Combine dry ingredients together. 2. Mix in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. 3. Add in cheese and continue to blend until dough is crumbly. (Best to use your hands.) 4. Form into a ball. 5. Divide dough into fourths. 6. On wax paper roll each piece into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. 7. Cut dough into strips about 3/4 inch wide and 3 inches long. 8. Place strips on ungreased cookie sheets and bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes or until slightly tan. Do not over bake. 9. Store in airtight container, placing wax paper between layers. 10. These freeze well. Makes 150 pieces. |
