BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE 
1/3 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. thinly peeled apple slices
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. chopped pecans

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Add flour and mix well. Spread dough onto bottom and 1 1/2 inches high around sides of a 9 inch springform pan.

Combine softened cream cheese and sugar, mixing well until blended. Blend in egg and vanilla and pour into pastry lined pan.

Toss apples with combined sugar and cinnamon. Spoon apple mixture over the layer of cream cheese and sprinkle with the nuts. Bake at 450 degrees F. for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 400 degrees F. and continue baking for 25 minutes. Loosen cake from rim of pan. Cool, remove rim and chill.
