SCREWBALL CAKE 
1 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda

Sift above ingredients together and add:

1/3 c. oil
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar
1 c. cold water

Mix all ingredients well. Bake in ungreased 8 inch square pan at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Spread with the following frosting.

BROILED COCONUT FROSTING:

1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
3 tbsp. milk
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
3/4 c. shredded coconut

Mix all ingredients together. Spread on a baked cake above. Broil three inches from the broiler until mixture is brown and bubbly.
