LARGE CHOCOLATE CAKE 
Cake:

2 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. milk
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
5 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. hot water
2 tsp. baking soda

Mix hot water and soda. Set aside. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs then add remaining ingredients except for hot water. Beat with mixer until smooth. Slowly add water, beating on low with mixer. Put into 9 X 13 pan or 3 nine inch layer pans and bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes.

Frosting:

3/4 c. sugar
3 tbsp. milk
3 tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Bring to boil and remove from heat. Add 1/4 c. chocolate chips. Stir until smooth. Frost cake.
