BASIC SPRITZ COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/4 c. vegetable shortening
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 lg. egg
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 c. all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Beat butter and shortening together with an electric mixer. Add sugar gradually, continuing to beat about 5 minutes until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well after each addition; dough will be stiff. Assemble gun, fill with cookie dough; use desired cookie disc. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees or until just starting to turn light brown around the edges, being careful not to overbake. Yield: 6 to 7 dozen.
