TEXAS CHAINSAW MEXHASH | |
6 sm. flour tortilla 1 lg. jar Pace Picante sauce (mild, unless your antacids are handy) 1 lb. ground beef or turkey (optional) 1 lg. (30 oz.) can refried beans 1/2 lb. Monterey Jack and or mild Cheddar cheese, grated Vegetable oil Sour cream Black olives Shredded lettuce Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a skillet, place enough vegetable oil to fill it halfway. Heat the oil; then fry tortillas one at a time, in the oil, until lightly browned on both sides. Place tortillas on a paper towel to remove excess oil. In the meantime, brown the ground meat in a skillet, and heat the refried beans. In a casserole dish or pan (or something about 6 inches tall), place one tortilla, some refried beans, some ground meat, some grated cheese and a little Picante sauce. Continue to layer these ingredients 6 times. Bake at 350 degrees for about 60 minutes. Serve with lettuce, olives and sour cream. Note: This recipe got it's name due to it's grizzly appearance. |
