TURTLE CAKE | |
1 box Pillsbury German Chocolate cake mix 1 (8-10 oz.) bag pecan pieces 1 bag caramel candy pieces (Kraft's-14 oz. or Brach's-15 oz.) 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 stick (1/2 c.) Blue Bonnet or butter Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9x13 inch pan. Prepare cake mix according to instructions. Place half of batter in pan and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove cake from oven and cool. While this portion is baking and cooling, in a double boiler melt caramel, butter and sweetened condensed milk. Stir until well blended and smooth. Pour and spread over baked layer. Sprinkle pecans over caramel. Pour and smooth evenly the rest of the batter over these layers. Bake for an additional 25 minutes. Cool and cut and serve. Suggested garnish: Cool Whip and a fresh strawberry or vanilla ice cream in place of Cool Whip. |
