EGG BREAD BRAID 
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. oil or butter
2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. scalded milk
1/2 c. warm water
2 pkgs. yeast
3 eggs, beaten
4-4 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

Combine first 4 ingredients; cool. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to liquids with eggs. Sift in enough flour until stiff. Let rest 10-15 minutes until kneading. Knead until smooth and elastic (10 minutes).

Place in greased bowl to rise; cover with damp cloth. After double in bulk (good 1/2 hour), punch down. Divide in 3 and roll out to braid. Let rise again; brush with egg wash (1 egg and little milk); sprinkle with sesame seeds if preferred. Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Golden brown. Yield: 1 large braided loaf.
