DANISH MEAT BALLS
1 1/2 lbs. ground round steak
1/2 lb. ground pork
1 onion, grated
3 to 4 slices of white bread
1/8 tsp. pepper
4 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
Milk or cream

Have meat ground 2 or 3 times. Add grated onion and the bread which has been softened in milk. Mix well. Add the remainder of ingredients. Egg whites may be used instead of the whole eggs. Add milk or cream a little at a time. Stir well after each addition. You may use tomato juice as the liquid instead of the milk or cream. Fry the meat balls in a hot pan. Use shortening of your choice. Fry the meatballs until light brown. Make gravy by adding water and beef bouillon to the pan in which the meatballs have been fried. Thicken the gravy with flour. Put meatballs and gravy in saucepan and let simmer for one hour.
