WAFFLES 
2 egg yolks
2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. soft shortening

Beat first 3 ingredients together, then beat in the rest of ingredients. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold this in batter until smooth.

Bake in hot waffle iron.

Fresh bacon fat is good in waffles.
