ANGEL FLAKE BISCUITS | |
5 c. flour 1/4 c. sugar 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 3/4 c. shortening 1 1/2 pkgs. dry yeast 1/4 c. warm water 2 c. buttermilk Oil Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add with buttermilk to dry ingredients. Mix well only until dough is well moistened. Place in covered bowl and refrigerate to use as needed. To bake biscuits, remove amount desired, roll out on floured board to about 1/2" thickness and cut with biscuit cutter. Place on oiled baking pan, turning once to grease both sides of biscuits. Bake at 400 degrees until nicely browned, about 12 to 15 minutes. Can be baked immediately or refrigerated for up to 2 weeks. A great treat. |
