FRANCIS' ANGEL FLAKE BISCUITS | |
5 c. self-rising flour 1/4 c. sugar 3/4 c. shortening (Crisco) 1 pkg. yeast 2 tbsp. warm water 2 c. buttermilk Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix flour and sugar, then cut in shortening with a hard dough blender. Add yeast mixture to buttermilk and add all at once to flour mixture. Knead slightly; make into biscuits. Bake at 400 to 425 degrees for 15 minutes. Dough will keep several weeks. Pinch off what you need and store the rest. TIPS: Once you knead dough, flour a board or counter top. Roll out dough with a rolling pin. Decide how thin or thick you want the biscuits. Take a small cookie cutter and cut the dough. Grease cookie sheet, place biscuits on sheet and let rise, then bake them in the oven. Can freeze dough. |
