FRUIT CAKE COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1 3/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. flour
3 tsp. cinnamon
3 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. water
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. candied cherries, chopped
1 lb. candied pineapple, chopped
1 1/2 lbs. dates, chopped
3 c. pecans, chopped

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs. Mix soda and water. Sift flour, spices and salt. Add to sugar mixture alternately with soda-water. Add vanilla, lemon juice, chopped fruit and nuts. Drop on cookie sheet by spoonful. Bake at about 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Makes 100 large or 200 small cookies.
