AMERICAN CHOW MEIN 
1 lb. ground beef
2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. minced onion
1 c. celery, cut fine
1 can chicken rice soup
1 can mushroom or celery soup
1 can chow mein noodles

Brown beef in shortening; add onion, celery, chicken soup, and mushroom soup. Mix together, except noodles. Put half of mixture in casserole. Add 1/2 can of chow mein noodles. Add remaining mixture. Top with remaining noodles. Bake, covered, 1 hour at 350 degrees.
