CHEESE PIT 
5 slices white bread, buttered and cut into cubes
3/4 lb. sharp tangy Cheddar cheese, coarsely grated
4 eggs, beaten
2 c. milk
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt
Dash of cayenne pepper
Dash of Worcestershire sauce

Alternate layers of bread and cheese in greased casserole. Pour mixture over cheese and bread and let stand several hours or overnight (can stand 2 nights). Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. This is similar to cheese souffle but does not have to be served immediately. Good served with ham.

Try this with stale French bread chunks, omit mustard, add 2 cloves garlic (minced) and use up bits of stale cheese plus cheddar... Amazing left over treat!
