1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. nutmeats
1 pkg. chocolate chips
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cloves

Mix first 6 ingredients in bowl. Sift together flour, cinnamon, soda, salt and cloves. Mix together well with applesauce mixture. Drop from spoon onto greased and floured cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees until brown. Makes 4 dozen cookies.
