GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
1/2 c. shortening 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 2 eggs 2 1/2 c. flour 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 c. water Cream shortening, sugar and salt together. Add eggs. In separate bowl; sift flour and cocoa. Add flour and milk alternating each mixture and stir well. Mix soda and water; add to mixture after mixed well. Add vanilla. Pour into pans that have been floured and greased. Bake 30-35 minutes. This makes enough for 3 round pans or 1 large oblong pan. ICING: 1 c. sugar 2 tbsp. flour 1 c. milk 3/4 stick butter 1 c. pecans 1 c. coconut Mix sugar, flour and milk; cook until thick. Add butter. Remove from heat. Add coconut and pecans. |
