JEWISH APPLE CAKE | |
3 c. plain flour (unsifted) 1 c. oil 1/4 c. orange juice 3 tsp. vanilla 2 c. sugar 4 eggs 3 tsp. baking powder 5 medium apples Place all ingredients in large mixing bowl and beat until smooth. Pare and slice 5 medium apples or 1 (20 ounce) can of "pie sliced apples", drained. Grease tube pan. Pour 1/2 of the batter into pan and top with apples. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Pour remaining batter over apple slices and top with remaining half of the apples. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. (Two layers of apples, one in the middle and one on top.) Bake in preheated oven at 350°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes in pan and turn out on cake plate. Do not ice. Freezes well. |
