DO-AHEAD LASAGNA | |
1 lb. ground beef 1 tbsp. instant chopped onion 2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. garlic salt 1 1/2 tsp. basil or oregano 1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce 3 1/2 c. water 3/4 lb. (2 1/4 c.) shredded cheese (American or Mozzarella or both) 3/4 lb. lasagna noodles, uncooked Brown ground beef with onion and seasonings. Add tomato paste, tomato sauce and water. Bring to a boil, simmer 10 minutes. (Mixture will be thin.) In 9"x13" ungreased pan, ladle 1 1/2 cups sauce to cover bottom. Cover sauce with layer of uncooked noodles. Ladle more sauce to cover noodles. Sprinkle 1/3 of cheese over sauce. Make 3 layers like this. Cover with foil, poke holes in foil with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. If it has been refrigerated first, cook for 2 hours. |
