PENNSYLVANIA RED CABBAGE 
2 tbsp. bacon drippings
4 c. shredded red cabbage
2 c. cubed unpared apples
1/2 tsp. caraway seed
Dash of pepper
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 c. water
1 1/4 tsp. salt

Mix all ingredients in a large skillet. Cover tightly, cook over low heat, stirring occasionally for 20 minutes. Serve with sauerbraten beef.
