ENGLISH TOFFEE 
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 tbsp. corn syrup
3 tbsp. water
3/4 c. chopped almonds, peanuts, or walnuts
1 sm. chocolate bar, cut fine

Cook sugar, butter, corn syrup and water until 290 degrees. While syrup cooks, chop nuts and sprinkle almost all of them over bottom of pie pan. Pour hot syrup over nuts, sprinkle with finely chopped chocolate bar and top off with remaining nuts. When cool, break into chunks.
