1/2 c. Crisco
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, well beaten
1 c. plus 2 level tbsp. plain flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts or chocolate chips

Cream shortening, white and dark sugar. Add vanilla; beat until light and fluffy. Fold in egg and beat, sift flour, soda and salt. Add to mixture. Stir in nuts and add chocolate chips or pecans. Put pecan halves on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 5-7-10 minutes. Drop by spoonfuls on cookie sheet.
