AUNT MARY LOU'S APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
1/2 c. dates
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 c. raisins
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add beaten egg and applesauce. Mix well. Sift all dry ingredients together and mix well with fruit and nuts. Add vanilla to applesauce mixture. Beat.

Combine all ingredients. Bake in 9 x 9 x 2 inch buttered and floured pan at 350 degrees in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes.

FROSTING:

1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
2 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
2-3 tbsp. hot milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream cheese. Add powdered sugar. Add vanilla. Add 2-3 tablespoons hot milk to reach desired consistency. Spread on cooled cake.
