CABBAGE SOUP 
1 c. beef broth or French onion soup
3/4 med. head cabbage, chopped
2 white onions, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 mild Vlasic pepperoncici, chopped fine; or 1 fresh mild Hungarian pepper,
finely chopped
1/2 c. celery, chopped
1 lg. can tomatoes, chopped
4 c. water
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 dashes "red hot sauce" if desired
2 to 3 tbsp. brown sugar

In large pot, place broth, cabbage, onions, peppers, celery and water. Bring to boil. Boil 10 minutes and lower heat to simmer. Add garlic, brown sugar and hot sauce, if used. Cook until tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Add tomatoes and juice. Add more water, if necessary. Cook another 5 to 10 minutes. Serves 4 to 6.
