CEREAL CRUNCHIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2-1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. crisp rice cereal

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Grease cookie sheets. In large bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugars. Add eggs and beat until blended. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, baking powder, soda, salt and vanilla to creamed mixture; stir until well blended. Stir in crisp rice cereal. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto prepared pan.

Bake at 375°F for 8 to 12 minutes. Let stand 1 minute before removing from pan.

Makes about 5 dozen.
