BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES | |
5 med. cucumbers 3 med. onions 1/4 c. salt 1 c. apple cider vinegar 1/2 tsp. ginger powder 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder 1 c. sugar 1 c. cold water 1/2 tsp. mustard seed 1/2 tsp. celery seed 1. Slice cucumbers and onions. Place in a bowl with salt and let sit for 2 hours. Rinse well and drain. 2. Combine remaining ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil. 3. Add cucumber and onion mixture and cook over low heat until they start to turn yellow. Stir and turn often. 4. Pack in jars and seal at once. 5. When cool place in refrigerator or process in water bath before cooling. 3-4 pints. |
