OLD FASHIONED BEEF STEW 
2 tbsp. Crisco oil
2 lb. beef chunks
1 lg. diced onion
1 clove garlic
5 c. boiling water
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. paprika
8 diced carrots
5 diced potatoes

Heat oil in Dutch oven; add beef and brown slowly on all sides. Add next 9 ingredients and simmer 2 hours. When meat is nearly done, add vegetables and cook 30 minutes more. Cook slowly as a stew boiled is a stew spoiled.
