PRALINES 
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix in large pot until sugar is mixed well. Place on medium heat and cook, stirring constantly until it turns brownish in color and reaches the soft ball stage. Remove from heat and add 1 tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 cup pecan halves. Beat until glossy. Quickly spoon onto buttered pan in patties. If mix gets too sugary and hard, return to heat for a few minutes until right consistency.
