2 1/4 c. sifted flour
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
3/4 c. shortening
3 eggs, unbeaten

Sift together flour, sugars, baking powder, salt, soda and spices. Add shortening and buttermilk. Beat. Add unbeaten eggs. Beat.

Makes two 9 inch layers.

BUTTER FLUFF FROSTING:

1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/2 c. soft butter
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. (about) confectioners sugar

Soften cream cheese. Combine all ingredients and beat until light and fluffy. Spread on cake.
