GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
1 German chocolate cake mix Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Cool completely. FROSTING: 1 c. evaporated milk 1 c. sugar 2 egg yolks 1/4 lb. butter 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/3 c. coconut 1 c. chopped pecans Combine milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter, and vanilla in a 3-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens (about 12 minutes). Remove from heat. Add coconut and pecans; beat until cool and of spreading consistency. Makes enough to frost 2 (9-inch) layers or top of 9 x 13 cake (about 2 to 2 1/2 cups). |
