ABSOLUTELY DREAMY APPLE PIE 
Try Jonathan or McIntosh apples in this particularly sweet yet tangy variety of a great American tradition. Serves 8.

1/3 c. cinnamon candies
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. warm water
6 c. apples, pared, cored and sliced
1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Pinch salt
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 unbaked 10-inch double-crust pie shell
2 tbsp. butter

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Melt cinnamon candies and sugar in water. Place apples in pie shell. Mix flour, sugar, warm water and remaining ingredients. Pour over apples. Top with crust and seal edges together. Cut slits in top and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake until golden brown about 45 minutes.
