KING SIZE GINGERSNAPS 
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 c. light molasses
3 tsp. baking soda

Sift flour with salt, spices and baking soda. Cream shortening till light and fluffy and gradually add sugar. Blend in egg and molasses, then stir in flour mixture until well blended. Shape dough in 1 1/2 inch balls. Roll in sugar, place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with fingers and sprinkle with more sugar. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Let stand a minute before removing from pan.
