SODA BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1 scant tsp. baking soda
1 scant tsp. cream of tartar
Pinch of salt
3 tbsp. shortening
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk

Rub dry ingredients and shortening together to make fine crumbs. Add milk, stirring with fork until soft dough is formed. Roll 1/2 inch thick and cut with biscuit cutter. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes 12 biscuits.
