BAKING SODA BISCUITS 
2 c. sifted flour
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. buttermilk

Sift together the dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until like coarse meal. Make well in center of flour mixture. Add all the buttermilk at one stir, stir to make soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead about 30 seconds. Pat or roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut with 2 inch cutter. Ungreased sheet. Bake 450 for 12 minutes or lightly brown.

I used curd instead of buttermilk and added two eggs and a couple of tbsp granulated sugar. It came out very well and all five kids liked it. it was soft and fluffy, and neither the sour curd nor the soda could be tasted at all. I will definitely save this to my favorite biscuit recipes!
