MRS. KENTUCKY'S CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1/4 c. shortening
1 sq. chocolate
1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. sour milk
1 c. cake flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg

ICING:

1 sq. chocolate, melted
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. cream
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt shortening and chocolate over low heat. Add water and sugar. Beat well. Add sifted soda an flour alternately with sour milk. Beat in egg. Bake in greased 10 x 10 inch pan 35 minutes at 350 degrees.

While still hot ice. Mix chocolate, sugar and cream; boil 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Let stand 1 minute. Beat slightly and pour over cake; cool before cutting.
