OLD TIME JAM CAKE 
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
4 eggs, separated
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. flour
1 c. raisins
1 c. blackberry jam
1 tsp. cocoa
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat egg yolks until light. Put in soda, sugar and butter. Add spices and cocoa. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into mixture. Add jam and raisins. Add flour and buttermilk alternately, beginning and ending with the flour. Bake in large greased and floured pan until it is done, about 60 or 75 minutes.
