OLD TIME NUT CAKE 
2 3/4 c. cake flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. (2 sticks) butter
1 3/4 c. sugar
4 eggs
2/3 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. finely chopped nuts

Grease and flour 9 inch tube pan. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Beat butter, sugar and eggs in large mixing bowl. Mix at high speed for 3 minutes, remove bowl from mixer. Stir in dry ingredients, alternately with milk, beating after each addition with wooden spoon, until smooth. Stir in vanilla and nuts.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until center springs back when pressed lightly. Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes, loosen with knife.
